Kiribati

Until 2016, I, like most people had never heard of Kiribati. Their President at the time, Anote Tong, had just made a passionate plea to the Governments of Australia and New Zealand to increase their Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Target. Their subsequent refusal on the eve of the Paris Climate Change Summit (Cop21) upset me and I decided to do something about it.

So I created a project called 'Your Brother, Your Sister' and with the assistance of fellow photographer Darren James we travelled to the Pacific to photograph the people of Kiribati. We were successfully able to capture 200 portraits to take to Paris and exhibit during the COP21 so the world could begin to get to know who the wonderful i-Kiribati are.
