Anzacs

In 2016 it occurred to me that we were coming close to seeing the last of the WWII Veterans. I approached the Bentleigh RSL about photographing their veterans to create a type of archive of the last of those men and women who served in the Allied Forces. The RSL loved the idea and so inspired by Richard Avedon, I photographed them at a rapid pace prior to their annual Anzac Day luncheon.

Now each year I return to photograph the elderly veterans but also those who have served in later conflicts. Sadly some don't return but their families are always grateful to have a reminder of them in their final years.

Here is a selection of some of those photographs. The 2016 series has a white background and were shot for black and white. Since then, I print them in colour but for my personal folio, I convert them to black and white.
