Tintype Portrait Photography
Unfortunately, I have to temporarily close my tintype portrait studio for the foreseeable future. If you would like to be notified when I do reopen it, please send me an email asking to be added to the notification list.
Apologies for any inconvenience and thanks for your support.
Tintype portrait photography is now available in Melbourne. A truely unique portrait style that makes a wonderful gift or addition to any album or annual report.
Considered by many to be the Polaroid of the 19th century, the tintype is made almost instantaneously through a process that uses hand poured chemicals on an enameled sheet of metal. Tintypes, also known as Wet plate or Collodion, are often found today in near original condition. They were passed down as family heirlooms and valued for their time-tested archival stability.
We offer studio sessions which are great for single portraits, couples' portraits, childrens' portraits and even pet portraits. If you are thinking of something more unusual or a larger project, please get in touch, we would love to discuss it with you.
